Conference opener videos

A conference opener sets the scene for what lies ahead. And what lies ahead might be a LOT of presentations over a number of hours or days. As such, we like to keep our openers short, with high-energy music and quickly flag up the conference theme. This one was commissioned by our client to be based around the theme of “Go further together” and “our people working collectively and in collaboration”. With a banging track licensed by PPL PRS, this opener rolled out ahead of the CEO keynote presentation and played out in 4K across a 12 metre-wide LED display. It featured footage of both conference speakers and delegates to help drive audience engagement.

Drone videography and steadycam works for Cory Brothers

With a set of drones that can legally fly indoors and across urban areas, we are able to capture butter-smooth aerial footage from incredible angles and in incredible detail. And that’s what Cory Brothers asked us to capture, along with some steady cam footage, for the launch of their new logistics facility.

Crème de la crem

The Hurlet Crematorium is an award-winning facility, thoughtfully designed and set within the rolling Hurlet hills, and a beautiful place for a service. We’d like to think this promo, commissioned by Horizon Crematoriums, shows it in a good light. What do you think?

How do you film consistent content when your teams are in different locations?

If you want to produce a series of videos with people who are in different locations, achieving the ‘same look and feel’ across your videos can be difficult.

Planning your content strategy around an event is one way to ensure consistent lighting, sound and visuals. Your annual conference is probably the best calendar opportunity to generate content from your leaders/influencers (and also your customers).

The good stuff

The Vaults Collection is the high-end whisky bottling range from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Prices range from £150, all the way to four figure sums. The bottle featured in this video retails at £695 a bottle. Who would pay £695 for a bottle of rare whisky? Well, at time of writing, there were only 11 of 174 bottles remaining. Can you ditch working with a telepromter?

Perhaps you have watched a newsreader make a comment that wasn’t via the teleprompter and suddenly realised they have a personality – there’s a reason for that.

Yes, reading from a teleprompter saves time. But the time saved often comes at the expense of authenticity. And authenticity creates engagement. Use some conversational cues and an extra camera angle and you can leave the teleprompter switched off.

Highlight the highlights

Producing a highlights video from many hours of conference footage can be a daunting task. More often than not, the end result is a confusing chain of unconnected sound-bites with slo-mo B-roll of finger buffets and drinks receptions.

For Moore Global’s 4 day 2022 conference highlights, we decided the edit had to dispense with unnecessary B-roll and strip out audio that only makes sense if you were there. But simply explain where it took place, show who was there, and thank them (inside two minutes). Here goes…

A new way to view the annual review

In 25 years of designing annual reviews and reports for clients, we have seen a lot of change. From sending 50mm transparencies by courier to the printers along with a Quark Xpress file on a SyQuest disc, to creating fully responsive interactive digital publications on Foleon, we reckon we’ve stayed on the curve.

So it was a bit of a curve ball when our client, Moore Global challenged us to design their latest annual review as a 60 second animated video.

Getting creative with colour

We had a lot of fun filming and producing this explainer video with David and Zoe from Candle Shack. We reckon the show and tell close up shots and cutaways do a great job of illustrating what happens when you start to add colour into your candles.

Whether you are a manufacturer, a product developer, or a start-up with a story to tell, it can feel a bit daunting to think about making a film that shows what you do and how you do it.That’s where we come in. Take this Amazon product video we made for one of our clients – we picked up the products, agreed the features to be displayed, scoped a suitable location, shot the video and turned it around super quick. We were not sure whether this animated explainer video for Crystalyx Dairy Feeds falls under the ‘Videography’ or ‘Digital Design’ category. All we know is it was a lot of fun, and we learned a lot about heifers, udders and dairy livestock health!

Waxing lyrical

We’ve filmed all manner of things from cocktail recipes, to fine dining experiences, and firewalks. But this was our first time working with hot wax! We were delighted to film Candle Shack’s laboratory manager Zoe Campbell taking viewers through the process of creating a Pumpkin-spice-infused candle. Really good fun, and we all smelled wonderful afterwards!!

 
 

A film about Climate change

While we had some footage from previous films, it was important to get some footage from boats working at sea right now, to show how climate change is impacting the seafood industry.

That meant getting out to a working fishing harbour (Stornoway) and talking to some skippers. Two boats messaged us as they rounded the Stornoway lighthouse, which gave us just enough time to get to the hardbour and capture the boats coming in to port and unloading their respective hauls.

Video production can be hard work. But we are pretty sure, working on a fishing boat, is much, much harder.

 

Shooting on a hot tin roof

A tour of Crisp Malt’s facility finishing with a sun-drenched rooftop interview, gave us all we needed to make this run & gun explainer about Barley malting. Eagle-eyed viewers might spot the shadow of a swift or two gliding silently through the malting shed.

 

All for Onebanks

We were delighted to support fintech Onebanks with a video explainer about their pilot branch for business and personal banking. We shot the entire film on location at the in-store OneBanks kiosk in Denny, Scotland.

Shooting was all wrapped up in a single day with lots of B-roll and five separate interviews with staff and members of the public.

Covid brings challenges to creative enterprises, and shooting this Vaults Collection whiskies under lockdown was definitely one we were up for. Eagle-eyed viewers may spot our much-treasured Bechstein grand piano as the setting for this incredible 33 y/o single cask single malt. We reckon it’s a perfect match!
